Hot Water — Solar System
The Basalt Stay is fitted with a solar hot water system. It’s efficient, reliable and environmentally friendly — but it works a little differently to standard systems.
How it works
- Solar panels heat the water during the day and store it in an insulated tank.
- An electric booster can be used if there’s been little sun, so you’ll always have hot water available.
- Look for the red light beside the fridge. If it’s on, press the button above it to switch on the booster.
Guest notes
- There’s plenty of hot water for normal daily use.
- Back-to-back long showers may reduce supply temporarily — the tank reheats over time.
- Boosting is rarely needed, but it’s there if you do run low.
Troubleshooting
- If water isn’t heating, press the booster button beside the fridge.
- If there’s still no hot water, please message us via the air bnb app — we’ll help straight away.
Thank you for helping us run the house sustainably. Solar keeps your stay comfortable while reducing our footprint on the valley and river.
