Your morning coffee, made properly.
We’ve stocked the machine with Villino beans – roasted locally in Hobart – and provided everything you need to create a smooth, café-style brew in the comfort of the kitchen.
Machine: Breville Barista Pro – (BES878SST)
Beans: Locally roasted Villino Coffee
Water: Use cold mains or filtered water. Avoid distilled or overly soft water.
Quick Start
- Switch on the machine (button on top). Lights will glow as it heats (around 3 minutes).
- Use the double basket (already fitted). Fill the portafilter and level off.
- Lock in, place your cup under the spout, and press the double shot button.
Grind & Dose
- Grind size: fine, like table salt
- Dose: fill to just below the rim
- Tamp: firm, level pressure
If it runs too fast → grind finer
If it drips or tastes bitter → grind coarser
Extraction
A good shot should pour for 25–35 seconds. Adjust grind and tamp as needed.
Steaming Milk
- Purge steam wand for 1–2 seconds before use
- Steam with tip just below surface, jug on a slight angle
- Stop when jug is hot to touch
- Wipe & purge the wand immediately after
After Use
- Knock out used coffee into the knock bin
- Rinse portafilter and basket
- Wipe down the tray and bench
- Empty the drip tray if full
- Ensure the steam wand is clean and purged
Troubleshooting
-
Thin / watery: grind finer, tamp more firmly
-
Bitter / slow: grind coarser or use less coffee
-
Weak steam: wait for the steam light, always purge first
Safety
Surfaces get hot during use. Always supervise children nearby. Never leave the machine on unattended.
