Scoutie is twelve years old and has taken to growing potatoes in the backyard at The Basalt Stay with quiet determination and plenty of fun. He tends to the soil, watches the seasons, and digs each crop by hand. What began as a family project has become his own, and now guests can share in his harvest.
These spuds are grown slowly and simply, in the same earth that surrounds our orchard and home. They carry the care of small hands, the patience of learning, and the pride of sharing food that has been nurtured close to home.
Pink Eyes are Tasmania’s most loved potato, and these ones are grown in the backyard at The Basalt Stay by Scoutie, who is twelve years old. With creamy flesh and a delicate flavour, they shine when prepared simply - boiled with butter, mint or olive oil. A seasonal harvest lifted straight from our soil.
